CarTrawler is the leading B2B technology provider of the car rental and mobility solutions to the global travel industry. Our purpose is to drive successful partnerships. CarTrawler’s end-to-end technology platform expands our airline and travel partners’ offering to their customers, creating substantial ancillary revenue opportunities. We provide unrivaled breadth and depth of content worldwide, including car rental, private airport transfer, and ride-hailing services.

CarTrawler creates innovative, data-led solutions for some of the largest travel brands in the world, including United Airlines, American Express, EasyJet, Alaska Airlines, SWISS, Hotels.com, and Emirates. As a B2B company, we focus solely on helping our airline and travel partners build their brands, not our own.

For our people, they get to work in an indigenous Irish tech company, in healthy, high performing teams, solving interesting problems.

Who are we?
Insights and Data Science at CarTrawler is currently ~20 very diverse people. Our team works with other teams across CarTrawler to deliver insights from data. We expect that Conversion Analysts will primarily use SQL to manage testing. We generally use Thoughtspot, and Tableau platforms to build live result dashboards. But these are relatively easy to learn so if you have mastered analytics and testing on any platform (e.g. Adobe Target, Google Optimiser/ Google Analytics, R, Python, Qlik/Looker, SAS, Spark, BigQuery, etc.) and have the desire to change the world with data, keep reading – we’re interested.

Role Purpose:
  • We’re looking for a Conversion Analyst to join the Insights team. We are increasing our investment in conversion optimization. This is an important role.
  • With the support of the Director of Insights and Data Science and the Insights Architecture Manager, the successful candidate will focus on three outcomes

o Developing and owning communication of MVT testing results, ensuring results are documented (centralized), consolidated, shared, and actioned, working with internal stakeholders to develop successful tests;
o Provide guidance on best practices for MVT testing and analysis to internal and external stakeholders, establishing yourself as CarTrawler’s in-house testing expert
o Ownership of the test and learn roadmap, leading on governance processes and ceremonies and ensuring stakeholders around the business are aligned on what we are (are not) testing, when, and where;

Role Purpose

  • The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Insights and Data Science (who reports to our Chief Revenue Officer). The purpose of the role is to apply advanced MVT (multivariate testing) to CarTrawler’s visitor traffic to optimize the offers, pricing, product, and merchandising of our car-rental, insurance, and other products. You have an opportunity to work with an award-winning team that developed this world-class test & target capability.

  • CarTrawler is already delivering optimization using a test-and-learn methodology. These tests were previously deployed using customized A/B testing. To increase the number, frequency, and analysis available, we are currently rolling out Snowplow (a behavioral data platform linked to our Snowflake data warehouse) to scale-up conversion analytics.

  • Specifically, we help our colleagues across the business derive insights from very large MVT testing datasets from our Snowflake data warehouse. This could be multivariate A/B testing data, search queries, bookings, customer satisfaction or tagging, and SnowPlow user interaction data.

  • Conversion Analytics is an important role. You will work with the Insights team to help colleagues around the business with the exploration and analysis of data, showing them the most appropriate methods.

  • Working with the Insights Architecture Manager and the Insights team you’ll help build and maintain different reporting tools, such as dashboards, to uncover insights on conversion and publish them to stakeholders (we’ll show you how we do it using Tableau dashboards but always open to new ideas)

  • Identify and analyse relevant data to drive business goals and validate designs; turn data into actionable insights, and provide the company with data-driven recommendations to improve conversion

  • With your manager - Develop a test and learn roadmap, provide guidance on best practices and centralize communication of results.

  • Celebrate success by creation of collateral on conversion wins and building on knowledge garnered.

  • Maintain and improve our test and learn reporting – leveraging your SQL and testing methodology knowledge.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Highly analytical with excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-starter with the ability to learn (in addition to we provide significant access to online training, so you don’t need to know everything when you join)
  • Strong data visualization skills with ability to present data in a logical & meaningful way.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to interpret complex or technical concepts to a wide range of audiences.
  • Comfortable manipulating and analysing complex, high volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources.
  • As a guideline, we would expect a minimum of two years working with data and doing useful work with it, either in industry or in postgraduate work.
  • Strong (intermediate) knowledge of SQL – or a demonstrated capability to learn quickly
  • Since Snowplow is leading edge technology – we do not require prior experience but familiarity with front-end tagging (javascript) or tools such as Adobe Target, Acquia, Google Optimize, Optimizely etc. will be beneficial
  • Experience with formal experimental and inferential methodology (maths, computer science, stats, science, economics or social science) will be a strong advantage.
